Unlike some studies written on the liturgy, this work is intended primarily for lay people, but includes technical notes of interest to clergy and specialists. It is an excellent parish education tool. My only disappointment is that there is no summary of how the Byzantine liturgy came into its present form (I am still reading the book, so perhaps there is one tucked away somewhere). This information must be culled and complied from various parts of the liturgy. Nevertheless, the resources contained in this volume are a treasure worth owning.
